About Me
Sam Powers (He/Him) is a freelance stage manager and lighting designer from Bethesda, MD. (ASM), Visit Joe Whitefeather (and bring the family!) (ASM), The '70s More Than A Decade, Digital Dopamine, Call Me By Any Other Name, A Queer Deconstruction of Romeo and Juliet; Unstable Connections: Zoom Play Festival; Lessons of an Unaccustomed Bride, The Telephone (ASM), and “Cagebirds”. His recent lighting design credits include: Mutual Aid: The Musical by Ethan Philbrick, Firebringer: A Stoneage Musical by Starrkidd, Caryl Churchill’s A Number, and Euridies’ Medea.
Sam’s more challenging and exciting productions have been within the realms of movement and dance. He loves working with directors to understand the story and world behind the movement, so that his lighting may elevate rather than detract from the overall story. Along those lines, collaboration and communication are his two favorite words, whether behind the lighting board or on the headset calling the cues.
Sam is a Muhlenberg College graduate, with a degree in Theatre and Business Administration, focusing on stage management and technical theatre and design. When not in the theatre, Sam enjoys photography, skiing, and travel.
